Gravity enthusiasts watch out! After an almost perfect winter, the bikers are back in charge in Saalfelden Leogang from next Thursday: on 10 May, Bikepark Leogang opens its doors and attracts downhillers, freeriders, mountain bikers and all those who want to become one to the Saalfelden Leogang region. A wide range of bike sports awaits you in Europe's largest bike park. The Riders Playground has 10,000 square metres of perfect practice terrain, from pump tracks and beginner trails with conveyor belts to greenhorn trails. In addition, nine different trails offer the perfect challenge for all skill levels. The "Flow Link" lives up to its name with many flowing passages, but also some step-downs and table jumps, while ambitious downhillers can follow in the footsteps of Gwin, Atherton and co. on the technically demanding "Speedster" World Cup and World Championship trail.
Event highlights with international appeal
This summer, the latter will once again be the stage for the Mercedes-Benz UCI Mountain Bike Downhill World Cup as part of the "Out of Bounds Festival". With a length of 2.3 kilometres and an average gradient of 20.7%, it is a combination of steep sections, rough root carpets, tight hairpin bends and fast passages that will push even the pros to their limits. Among them, a local heroine will also be taking on the challenge: Valentina Höll from Pinzgau. She recently triumphed in the junior classification of the Downhill World Cup in Losinj, Croatia. It goes without saying that she will also be putting the pedal to the metal on her home track in Saalfelden Leogang from 7 to 10 June. With the BIKE Festival Saalfelden Leogang, a new highlight in the event calendar of the bike destination awaits from 31 August to 2 September. The festival, known for its venues in Riva and Willingen, among others, offers competitions for all age groups, mountain bikers and e-bikers, test courses and parties as well as a large bike trade fair where the latest trends can be scrutinised - including test rides on the 2019 models that are not yet available on the market.
Sales growth proves concept right
The bike sport is booming. The Saalfelden Leogang bike region has made this fact its challenge and has worked energetically in this direction, and not just in recent years. The turnover at Bikepark Leogang proves the concept right. A 15 per cent increase in 2017 and a 50 per cent increase in riders in the Riders Playground prove that the region is doing its homework.
If you want to see this for yourself, the opening weekend of Bikepark Leogang is the perfect opportunity. From 10 to 13 May, there will be a 15% discount on day and multi-day tickets (excluding season tickets).
