Grand opening of the new lines and trails in the Epic Bikepark Leogang

The opening of the four new lines and trails as well as the 5,000m² pump track took place on 18 August 2019.

The Saalfelden Leogang bike region and the Bikepark Leogang have good reasons to celebrate. The new lines and trails have been extremely well received and the pump track is also providing a lot of fun.

"With the "Steinberg Line by Fox", "Antonius Trail", as well as the "Schwarzleo" and "Forsthoftrail", we have four different new lines and trails in all levels of difficulty. This allows us to offer our bike-loving guests an even wider range of options. The pump track is also a highlight and has been extremely well received," says Kornel Grundner, Managing Director of Leoganger Bergbahnen. "Bikepark Leogang was founded in 2001 and has been continuously developed. After 18 years, it was time to expand and broaden the offer. Both the investment of around one million euros and the second cable car, the Steinbergbahn, which went into operation for bikers this summer alongside the Asitzbahn, are quantum leaps. We want to further internationalise the bike park and open up new markets, such as the UK or Scandinavia."

With the Steinberg Line by FOX and the Antonius Trail, two of the four new trails are being created directly in the Epic Bikepark Leogang. The two hand-shaped single trails Forsthof Trail and Schwarzleo Trail, on the other hand, expand the region's existing single trail network outside the bike park. Austria's largest tarmac pump track including jump and dirt jump line has been created in collaboration with Velosolutions directly at the Riders Playground at the Asitzbahn valley station.

An important sign of bike expertise

"The aim is to remain one of the best in the coming years," says Marco Pointner, Managing Director of Saalfelden Leogang Touristik. "We must utilise our pole position to continue to create a varied and appealing offer for our bike region. After all, thanks to mountain bikers, the Saalfelden Leogang region is well on the way to becoming a year-round tourism region. In addition to the further development of the offer, major events such as the Mercedes-Benz UCI Mountain Bike Downhill World Championships from 04 - 06 September 2020 also play an important role here," says Pointner.

The next bike highlight won't be long in coming. From 13 - 15 September 2019, the BIKE Festival will also return to Saalfelden Leogang after its extremely successful debut last year.
