For the first time, the Out of Bounds Festival will be the venue for a double World Cup: in addition to the downhill events, the Mercedes-Benz UCI Mountain Bike World Cup will also host the World Cup premiere of the cross-country competitions.
Downhill and Cross Country united in the traditional Out of Bounds Festival: After the fantastic World Championships last autumn, Saalfelden Leogang is now hosting a double World Cup for the two flagship disciplines of mountain biking for the first time. Both competitions, which will take place from 11 to 13 June, have great sporting appeal. After all, cross country is the Olympic discipline for mountain bikers and the technically difficult World Cup course in the EPIC Bikepark Leogang is the penultimate stop before the Games in Tokyo.
For the world's best downhillers, the tenth edition of the Downhill World Cup in Leogang is also the start of the World Cup season, after the traditional kick-off in Fort William, Scotland, and the World Cup in Maribor, Slovenia, had to be cancelled or postponed due to the coronavirus. Saalfelden Leogang is now working on a safety concept, including for potential spectators: ‘We hope that visitors will be allowed on the event site again this year - with a safe prevention concept, of course,’ says Marco Pointner, Managing Director of Saalfelden Leogang Touristik. Fans will be kept up to date via social media and on the website www.mtb-weltcup.at.
The final races will be shown live on redbull.tv!
