In cooperation with Bergwelten magazine and Bezirksblätter Salzburg, a hiking day is being organised on the Asitz for ‘mountain enthusiasts’ and those who would like to become one. Depending on your fitness level and condition, you can choose between five guided themed hikes. In addition to the hikes, an attractive supporting programme is also on offer.
The hikes at a glance:
Hike 1: HERBAL WORKSHOP (duration: 1.5h)
- Meeting point: middle station of the Asitzbahn cable car
- Start: 10.00 am and 2.00 pm
Together with a herbal expert, you will first go on a tour through the sensory adventure park, past places of power and rippling waters, to the actual destination: the herb garden with its secrets. Learn new things about the use of herbs and then learn how to process them yourself. A soothing ointment or a tincture with herbs, roots and schnapps will then find its way into your rucksack!
Hike 2: SAGEN-WANDERUNG (duration: 1h)
- Meeting point: Asitzbahn mountain station
- Start: 10.00 am and 2.00 pm
True to the saying: ‘Because no one knows if it's true, but if it's not true, you can't tell it’, a storyteller and a musician will take you back to times long past on this legend hike.
Hike 3: GENUSS-WANDERUNG (approx. 3.5h, 9km)
- Meeting point: middle station of the Asitzbahn cable car
- Start: 10.00 am
Enjoy the flavour of Saalfelden Leogang in all its diversity. Together with a hiking guide we start at the middle station of the Asitzbahn and hike up to the summit cross of the Großer Asitz. Delicacies from the region can be tasted at various stations during the hike. For better planning, please book in advance.
Hike 4: BERGWELTEN HIKE WITH KLAUS HASELBÖCK (approx. 4h, 13km)
- Meeting point: Asitzbahn mountain station
- Start: 10.00 am
Klaus Haselböck's enthusiasm for mountains culminates in the fact that he is editor-in-chief of Bergwelten, an experienced climber and a qualified hiking guide. Join him on a hike from the Asitzbahn mountain station via the impressive Saalachtaler Höhenweg via the Geierkogel, the Scheideckriedel and the Haidersbergkogel back to the Asitzbräu.
Hike 5: PHOTO HIKE WITH TAMRON (approx. 2h, 4km)
- Meeting point: Asitzbahn mountain station
- Start: 10.00 am and 2.00 pm
Rediscover the mountain world on the guided photo hike with TAMRON. At the Asitzbahn mountain station you have the opportunity to borrow the latest TAMRON lenses from a large selection and test them on your hike. An official photo ID is required to borrow the lenses. Don't forget your own camera!

Participation in the Bergwelten Hiking Day and the supporting programme is free of charge and no registration is required. Registration is only required for the pleasure hike.
The ascent and descent with the Asitzbahn costs only € 10 per person on the day of the event (small children born in 2014 and younger accompanied by their parents and holders of the Saalfelden Leogang Card travel free of charge) and must be paid for at the ticket office at the Asitzbahn valley station.
