This circular trail starts at the parking lot in Bürgerau Saalfelden. From here you walk over a bridge on the left side to the beautiful Lichtenberg Castle and up through the woods to the Einsiedelei Hermitage Chapel. Then you will continue to Bachwinkel and back on the promenade to your starting point. Hikers are advised to use walking poles. This impressive walk is ideal for families with small children who can take a rest break where Saalfeldens hermit lives. From the hermitae you enjoy a wonderful view of Saalfelden and the mountains towering over the town.
The descent to Bachwinkl requires a minimum of surefootedness.
Our Tip: You may also want to go on an extended hike over "Fuchssteig" trail to Steinalm Hut. Note: The entire ascent is only recommended for proficient mountaineers and requires surefootedness and a head for heights.
