Born in Upper Austria, he is known as an asset to the young Viennese jazz scene. As a versatile, technically gifted pianist with a nuanced, classically trained touch, he has been a sought-after sideman in a variety of bands for years. Since 2016, he has also been making his mark as a bandleader in the captivating quartet Purple is the Colour. But now: Simon Raab solo.
He didn't make this task easy for himself. He has improvised and composed spontaneously, felt out note by note, he has tinkered, tried things out, discarded and started again, listened deeply to himself and played what he found out of himself. He put his heart and soul into it. It is a pleasure to listen to Simon Raab's solo music and immerse yourself in a very individual, intimate and immensely rich musical cosmos. (Andreas Felber, Ö1)
