Sun Mi Hong - drums
Drummer and bandleader Sun-Mi Hong, born in In-Cheon, South Korea, dreams of dust bowls, brown doors, or the "Temple of a Thousand Neon Leggings." At least, she named some of the compositions for her album "Invisible Ropes" with her Bida Orchestra after such dreamy themes. The project, created at the invitation of the "Reflex Series" at the Bimhuis in her adopted home of Amsterdam, is realized with a sextet of all-stars from the European improv scene, including Mette Rasmussen and John Dikeman on saxophones, to explore new textures and dynamics: "from linear serenity to choppy waters and blood curdling screams." Fantastic expectations: "Prepare to have the rug pulled out from under you."
