Six years after a brilliant performance with his Synesthetic4 at the Saalfelden Jazz Festival, Vienna-based clarinetist, composer and bandleader Vincent Pongrácz is doubling our synesthesian opportunities. His "Synesthetic Octet", founded some eleven years ago at Vienna’s "Porgy & Bess", mixes all sensory levels even for those who can't taste sounds or associate colors with temperatures. Inspired by the arrangements of Gil Evans, the compositions of Olivier Messiaen and hip hop of the 90s, the leader occasionally raps in an imaginative language to an overwhelmingly groovy 7/8th. And the drums sound like "Plehak", as the current album title suggests.
