Vortrag & Film: FÜNFMAL 8000 - PETER WÖRGÖTTER
A mountaineer's life in extremes
Growing up at the Sonnleitenhof in Saalfelden, Peter Wörgötter starts ski mountaineering at a young age. This is followed by numerous trips abroad and high-altitude expeditions around the globe.
In 1977, he achieves his first 8000-meter summit victory on Lhotse in the Everest massif. As the first person in the world, he makes a ski descent in 1981 on Manaslu, the eighth highest mountain in the world – almost 4,000 vertical meters downhill, and without artificial oxygen. Wörgötter has climbed a total of five eight-thousanders and has documented almost all of his expeditions on film.
In recent years, the rarities have been digitized and preserved for future generations. Peter Wörgötter and his granddaughter Lena Öller present these cinematic treasures and embark with us on a journey back to the expedition mountaineering of that time - before GoPro and the internet.
