Awarded with the UCI Bike Region Label

Introduced in 2016, a total of 26 cities and regions around the world have received the award since then. The label not only supports and recognises cities that host major UCI cycling events, but also regions that invest significantly in the development of public cycling and in the establishment of corresponding programmes and infrastructures.

There are numerous criteria to be met, including hosting a UCI World Championship in the last four years, as well as a long-term cycling strategy, high-quality cycling infrastructure, sustainability measures and high safety standards for cyclists.

Since the official ceremony in October 2023, Saalfelden Leogang can now also count itself among the UCI Bike Cities & Regions - an elite circle that includes cities such as Copenhagen, Montreal, Paris, Glasgow and Vancouver or the regions of Flanders, Val di Sole or South of Scotland.
