Equipped with simple wooden skis without edges, leather lace-up boots and a long pole for braking, the daring nostalgics put their skills to the test in two competitions and determine their world champions for the tenth time. In the long-distance race and giant slalom, a total of 300 participants from various countries compete against each other and glide down into the valley from the Asitz on skis that are up to 100 years old.
The most original racers will compete in the ‘Ski Pioneers’ category. They may only use equipment manufactured before 1940 and must be real experts on two skis. The participants in the ‘Kandahar’ category have it a little easier. Their equipment may have been built up to 1965. And in the third category, the retro category, all ‘newer’ ski models without a waist make an appearance. Women and men are judged separately.
In the end, there will be twelve world champions, for whom tradition and fun will take centre stage alongside the race. Anyone can take part, whether as a spectator or participant. The ‘nostalgia offspring’ can also put their skills to the test.
The Nostalgia Ski World Championships are organised by the ‘Leogang ANNO 1900’ association and have been held every two years on the Asitz and at the Schanteilift since 2004.

• 18.00: Welcome evening with fun and games on the ice rink in Sonnrain with presentation of the participating clubs
• Afterwards: World Cup party with live music in Bar Restaurant Birnhorn in Sonnrain
Saturday, 13.01.2024
• 1.00 pm: Start of the long-distance run from the Asitz I/II middle station above après-ski, Steinadler bar/pub; entertainment in the finish area at the Steinbergbahn valley station
• 19.30: Big festive evening with award ceremony of the long-distance run and live music at the AsitzBräu, ascent: 18:00-20:00

• 10.00 am: Start of the gate run at Schantei
• Afterwards: Award ceremony gate run and honouring of the world champion in the Schantei finish area and farewell ceremony
