120 participants at the Stoabergmarsch24

Bright sunshine, a fascinating play of light and interesting encounters awaited the 120 participants at the 5th Stoaberg March last weekend. The hikers covered 4,600 metres in altitude over 60 kilometres between Salzburg and Tyrol.

120 participants, more than ever before, gathered at the start of the 5th Stoaberg March on Saturday at the town hall square in the historic centre of Saalfelden. A short time later, the mother and brother of recent World Ski Championship silver medallist Manuel Feller welcomed the hikers to the Peter-Wiechenthaler-Hütte in glorious sunshine with a "panoramic lunch". Freshly fortified, the ascent to the Weißbachlscharte at 2261 metres above sea level with its magnificent panorama was not difficult. After the Ingolstädter Haus, with a wonderful view of the Steinerne Meer, dinner was already waiting at the Kallbrunn Alm, where a fascinating play of light from the sun and clouds lit up the night. The descent took us across extensive alpine pastures to the idyllic Hintertal valley on the Lofer side. Strengthened by a breakfast in Lofer, the last stage to Waidring, where the destination was already waiting for the participants, was no longer difficult for the hikers. It is the extraordinary combination of impressive natural scenery, a varied programme and not least the sense of community during the 24 hours that makes the Stoaberg March such a special experience.

"I took part for the first time this year and was thrilled! A scenically beautiful and challenging hike with nice people and fantastic weather - an experience that will stay with you for a long time," says Petra Astner, delighted with her premiere.  In addition to the numerous local participants, the number of guests from near and far is also growing. It is therefore not surprising that the number of participants, under the expert guidance of the local hiking professionals from the Fun Connection, is growing steadily and the anticipation for the 6th edition of the Stoaberg March is already high.
