6th Tourism Day Saalfelden Leogang: Focusing on the Future

Under the motto "Strengthening Roots Through Knowledge", the 6th Tourism Day Saalfelden Leogang took place on 26 November 2024 at Congress Saalfelden.

Organised by Saalfelden Leogang Touristik, the event provided a unique platform for regional tourism entrepreneurs and partners to prepare for the upcoming winter season and discuss forward-looking ideas.

The event was all about the future: What trends are emerging? What challenges need to be addressed? And how can the region continue to develop as a top year-round destination in the Alpine area? A high-calibre programme featuring presentations by renowned experts and inspiring impulses attracted numerous participants, sparking engaging discussions and fresh insights.

Opening: A Strong Signal for Innovation and Collaboration
The Tourism Day was officially opened by Hannes Riedlsperger, Chair of the Saalfelden Tourism Association, Nadja Blumenkamp, Chair of the Leogang Tourism Association, and Marco Pointner, Managing Director of Saalfelden Leogang Touristik.

Through the cooperation of all regional stakeholders and a commitment to high service quality, Saalfelden Leogang has become one of the leading year-round destinations in the Alpine region. Host families, locals, and employees form the foundation of this success. The region stands on solid ground – not only as a leading tourism destination but also as an attractive place to live and unwind for its residents. This balance between economic success and regional quality of life is a central part of the strategy to establish Saalfelden Leogang as a model region for sustainable tourism in the long term.

Visionary Speakers: Future Research and Motivation Training
A particular highlight of the Tourism Day was the presentations of two exceptional speakers:

Andreas Reiter, a renowned futurologist and head of the ZTB Zukunftsbüro (Future Office), focused on the strategic challenges of the coming years. In his talk, "What Are Tomorrow’s Guests Looking For, and How Can Businesses and Destinations Captivate Them?", he analysed the evolving needs of travellers and the measures destinations must take to achieve lasting success. His key message: sustainability, willingness to innovate, clear profiling, and smart, personalised offerings are the keys to the future. Reiter praised Saalfelden Leogang as an outstanding example of a destination that not only identifies trends but actively shapes them.

Gela Allmann, a passionate athlete and motivational coach, captivated the audience with her life story. Following a serious accident, she fought her way back to life with iron willpower and now embodies resilience and personal strength. Her talk, "Fight. Smile. Love. – Everything You Need is Within You", encouraged participants to tackle challenges with courage and determination – both personally and professionally.

Looking to the Future
With the aim of becoming the most value-generating destination in the Alps, the focus will remain on sustainable concepts, innovative strength, and genuine hospitality. The Tourism Day demonstrated that Saalfelden Leogang is well-prepared to face future challenges with confidence and foresight.
