8th Nostalgia Ski World Championships in Saalfelden Leogang

A total of 290 enthusiastic racers from 7 nations came to Saalfelden Leogang this weekend in their grandparents' sporting gear and provided some exciting moments.

Last weekend, from 26 to 28 January 2018, the eighth Nostalgia Ski World Championships took place in Saalfelden Leogang. A special highlight was the new route of the long-distance run from the Asitz middle station I/II. The extremely selective course demanded everything from the 123 participants. Of course, there were a few spectacular falls, but fortunately without injuries.   New this year was the introduction of several age groups and an average time classification for the long-distance run. The winners were delighted to receive beautiful crystal trophies.

Sunday's classic slalom on the Schantei Osthang was another exciting event. A sometimes treacherous course with a jump over the Edelweiss ski jump decided victory or defeat. The new Nostalgia Ski World Champions were determined in the combination of long-distance skiing and slalom. A total of 290 enthusiastic racers from 7 nations came to Saalfelden Leogang this weekend in their grandparents' sporting gear and provided some exciting moments.
