ALM:CULTURE

Outdoor cultural events in Saalfelden Leogang

Every Friday from 5 July to 6 September 2019, hikers can meet various artists and cultural professionals at the mountain huts in Saalfelden Leogang. There are concerts, legendary tales and carving and drawing workshops. All under the motto ‘Tradition meets modernity’. The best thing about it: you don't have to register or pay anything to take part in the events. All you need to do is hike up to the mountain pasture.

05.07.2019 Drawing workshop with Evi Schartner on the Riedlalm

Outdoor drawing for young and old: explore the environment with a pencil! Drawing outdoors makes the experience with the environment very intense. Visitors work with different materials and drawing techniques. They learn how to choose the right detail. Composition, space, colour, atmosphere, light and shadow are also covered in the course. This course is suitable for beginners, advanced students and children.

12.07.2019 Legend teller Hans Pichler at the Sinnlehenalm

Legends, stories and fairy tales from the Saalfelden Leogang region, accompanied by music! From mountain maidens to ‘salty women’ to ‘special foxes’ and many more figures from the ‘other world’ take us back to a time long past. Storytelling is firmly rooted in our culture and tradition. It is therefore not surprising that there are countless traditions that have unfortunately been somewhat forgotten in recent decades. Hans Pichler from Leogang takes visitors on a journey into the legendary world of the Pinzgau!

19.07.2019 ‘Schwaibergmusi’ concert on the Örgenbauernalm

For more than 40 years, the siblings Barbara, Mathilde, Christian and Franz have been making music as Schwaibergmusi in the tradition of real folk music. ‘Schwaiberg‘ is the name of their parents’ farm in the village of Haid in Saalfelden.  In keeping with the motto ‘Music keeps you young’, the siblings will give a concert at the Örgenbauernalm.

26.07.2019 Concert ‘Asperger Alphornbläser’ and carving workshop on the Steinalm

For a long time in his life, the father of two members of the Astberg Alphorn Players dreamed of building an alphorn himself and making music with it. This man's endeavour was unusual because there is hardly any tradition of alphorn blowing in his home region of Pongau. However, he was no longer able to realise this plan. In the autumn of 2012, two of his sons took up their father's wish and had alphorns made for themselves. They immediately began to learn the instruments and have been working on developing their musical skills and repertoire ever since.
Carving workshop: Saalfelden master carver Hermann Gruber demonstrates simple carving techniques for young and old. Visitors can then take their creations home with them!

02.08.2019 ‘Happy Hoagascht’ concert at the Sinnlehenalm

A concert with Stefan ‘Stefano’ Schipflinger (guitar, vocals), Florian ‘Flori’ Schwarzenbacher (accordion, ‘Blechmusi’, vocals), Ludwig J. Schwarzenbacher (sousaphone, bass), Mario Maierhofer (cajon, tambourine, clap sticks, vocals).
It's that time again. The four crazy dialect heroes from the centre of the Pinzgau Innergebirg region are coming together for a hearty rendezvous. Visitors can be whisked away to their Grasberg idyll for a short time and float with them on cloud 11 to the dialect Olympus and back again. With adventurous lyrics accompanied by rustic and exotic instruments, they take their listeners' fantasies to unimagined dimensions. Ultra-cosy, power pop, mega-sexy and, above all, mouth-watering.

09.08.2019 Concert ‘Tim McMillan & Rachel Snow’ at the Peter Wiechenthaler Hut

Tim McMillan from Melbourne, Australia, is a renegade everyman and an utterly unique musician. He showcases his virtuoso acoustic skills in almost athletic guitar chops and astute and melodic songwriting. He currently performs over 100 concerts a year throughout Europe with Australian violinist Rachel Snow. The duo perform a distinctive mix of styles including Celtic Rock, Folk, Metal & Jazz. Tim and Rachel's shows are filled with athletic guitar and violin feats, accompanied by hilarious stories about life in the Australian bush.

16.08.2019 Concert ‘K3’ on the Örgenbauernalm

The three gentlemen of K3 are back in action and present their new programme ‘süss bläst der Föhn’.
And the creative break has done them good: as usual, the band drives their clouds of sound across the stage with additional, sound-expanding instruments and new compositions that, as always, represent a unique language in the current music scene.
K3 remains true to itself as usual and surprises with every note, acts spontaneously, plays sensitively to aggressively, performs unconventionally and captivates in every moment. The concert serves as a foretaste of the 40th Saalfelden Jazz Festival, which takes place from 22-25 August 2019 in Saalfelden Leogang. Info about the festival: www.jazzsaalfelden.com

30.08.2019 Concert ‘LeRoXa’ on the Steinalm

LeRoXa - that's LEna Scheibner, RObert Innerhofer and AleXAnder Reicher. In their polyphonic dialect songs, the singer-songwriter trio takes a humorous and critical look at the various realities of life in Pinzgau and the rest of the world. In 2012, LeRoXa released their first album entitled ‘Seawos!’ - on which they sing about the hardships of everyday life in the countryside, stand up for the (once) native fauna and tongue-in-cheek criticise the lifestyle of high society and the goings-on of hunters. With ‘Losts amoi’ and ‘Ober sticht Unter’, two further CDs have been recorded on which LeRoXa present new, unheard-of songs that once again oscillate between tradition and modernity, between profundity and humour, between folk and pop music. The 2014 and 2015 MUNDart G'song winners also translate well-known hits into dialect gems, which they also perform at their concerts. LeRoXa are two guitars, three voices and heartfelt lyrics.

06.09.2019 ‘Bluesbrauser’ concert at the Riedlalm

The time has finally come: The Bluesbrausers present their first live album ‘Wås såg er?’. After three studio albums, ‘Wås såg er?’ sees the Brauser fully in their element - playing pointed songs live that groove their way to the front. Because the Bluesbrauser are a rolling, musical express train from the Pongau Salzach Delta and a live experience.
