In Advent it becomes contemplative and traditional in Saalfelden Leogang. At the Christmas market there are traditional handicrafts, and to Santa Claus, Krampus with creepy wooden masks, the so-called perchten, march through the streets. A special highlight of the Advent season is this year’s new event “Schwarzleo Advent”: an atmospheric Christmas market and one of the oldest mines in Salzburg invite you to the tranquil Schwarzleo Valley on the third Advent weekend.
At the contemplative and romantic Advent market there are homemade delicacies for young and old, children can roast their stick bread by the campfire, and take part in a painting competition. The stands offer all kinds of homemade, genuine crafts and lovingly selected gift ideas. There is also a musical programme: Weisenbluers and the traditional Anglo-Saxons bring good luck and blessings and get visitors in the mood for the Christmas season with their festive songs and poems.
The show mine will also open its doors this weekend. The medieval tunnel of the show mine gives an insight into the hard work of the miners and their mined treasures around silver, copper, nickel and co. The exciting tunnel tours are rounded off by contemplative readings and festive music.
