Chamber music in huts: a weekend full of musical treasures in Leogang

From 8 to 10 November 2024, music lovers can look forward to an extraordinary chamber music festival in Leogang.

In collaboration with the Leogang Mining and Gothic Museum, the FREIRAUM cultural association is presenting a multifaceted programme in historically significant venues. Under the title ‘Chamber Music in Cabins’, works of early music will be performed in chamber music ensembles. The unique venues - the museum's Thurnhaus, the Hüttschmiede, the Leogang parish church and the St. Anna Knappenkapelle - create an incomparable atmosphere. The festival offers top-class concerts with internationally renowned artists and ensembles on three consecutive days:

Friday, 8 November 2024
- 7.30 pm: Kick-off with the ‘lautten compagney BERLIN’, which will present works by John Playford under the title ‘Chirping of the nightingale’ in the Thurnhaus of the Mining and Gothic Museum.
- 10.00 pm: An exclusive late-night concert with Heidi Wallisch-Schauer, who will play the salterio - a rare dulcimer from the south - in the atmospheric St. Anna Knappenkapelle. (Seating ticket required!)

Saturday, 9 November 2024
- 5.00 pm: Heidi Wallisch-Schauer and her ensemble invite you on a musical voyage of discovery ‘Dulcimer, Baroque and Vienna - how does that rhyme?’ in the historic Hüttschmiede.

- 8.00 pm: A highlight of the festival is the performance of Claudio Monteverdi's ‘Marienvesper’ in the Leogang parish church. The monumental work will be performed by the ‘lautten compagney BERLIN’ and the Salzburg choir ‘cor os anima’ as well as six high-calibre soloists under the musical direction of Norbert Brandauer to mark the 40th anniversary of the return of the painting of the Virgin Mary to the Leogang parish church.

Sunday, 10 November 2024
- 11.00 am: Sunday begins with an introduction by Wolfgang Praxmarer to the world of the historical instrument ‘Cithrinchen’ in the Mining and Gothic Museum.
- 11.30 am: This will be followed by a Cithrinchen concert, also presented by Wolfgang Praxmarer.

Tickets are now available from Saalfelden Leogang Touristik on +43 (0) 6582 70660.

The festival is organised by the FREIRAUM Leogang cultural association in cooperation with the Leogang Mining and Gothic Museum. Anni Haitzmann is responsible for the artistic direction and programme design.

Look forward to a musical weekend full of discoveries, where early music can be experienced in a unique atmosphere!
