3200 years of mining history - 50 metres in altitude - 200 steps
Leogang is one of the oldest mining centres in Salzburger Land. Traces in the Schwarzleotal can be found as far back as the 14th century, where miners worked hard to extract mineral resources such as silver, copper, nickel, lead, cobalt and mercury. Visitors can see how difficult and dangerous the working conditions were for miners at the time in a tunnel system that has been made accessible again. Even back then, mining could only be done on foot and even today you sometimes have to stoop down and walk single file to explore the extensive tunnels.
The old traditions are revived by Heidi Pichler, the leaseholder, and the trained guides with their historical expertise. After an exciting hike through the medieval tunnel, Heidi spoils her guests in the cosy Knappenstube with local cuisine and thus ensures their physical well-being.
Eventful treasure hunt
Families and school groups can embark on an exciting treasure hunt in the show mine. Every Wednesday in July and August, the brave "miners" can explore the adventurous tunnel safely equipped. The fearless "miners" get to keep the treasure and after the eventful day they are awarded a treasure stone and a certificate for their bravery.
Additional offers in the show mine
Among other things, there is a large playground for children. A children's tunnel that can be fought in and the "miners' tower", an exciting play tower with numerous mining elements, make the visit something very special. The "Knappenstuben Brot" from the in-house bread oven can be savoured with all your senses.
Important: Good shoes and warm clothing are recommended. Not recommended if you are claustrophobic. A tour of the mine is only possible with a guided tour.

- from May 2017 to the end of October 2017, closed on Mondays!
- May, June, September and October at 12:00 and 14:00
- July and August from 10:00 to 17:00 and by appointment (groups). The last guided tour starts at 4.00 pm.
