You can expect a festival with more than 60 concerts in the town, in the woods, musical hikes in the midst of our beautiful mountains and of course some surprises again. Ticket sales start today.
We would also like to announce some programme items already and thus offer a small preview of this year's edition:
The opening project on the main stage this year has been awarded to the Austrian musician Lukas König. He was already a guest in Saalfelden in 2019 as Artist in Residence and you probably know him from numerous other projects in which he has been involved in Saalfelden in recent years. The Ralph Mothwurf Orchestra will surprise you with an extraordinary contribution to the programme: The 18-member ensemble not only offers a cross-section of the Austrian jazz scene, but is also an opulent orchestral project far removed from all clichés. Two piano trios that couldn't be more contrary will also be presented on the main stage: the Argentinian pianist Leo Genovese will be a guest at this year's festival, as will the Australian trio Brekky Boy.
Of course, we have again nominated two Artists in Residence: Japanese koto player Michiyo Yagi will be a guest with several projects, as will singer and composer Andreas Schaerer from Switzerland, who already enchanted the audience last weekend as part of our winter festival "3 Days of Jazz".
This year's visual leitmotif
We see it as an important task to secure the future of jazz and thus also to introduce young people to this art form and to inspire them for it. For this reason, a competition was held at the HTBLuVA Salzburg for this year's main visual. More than 50 submissions were received, three of which were awarded prizes. The winner was 18-year-old Elias Neier.
