Leading in the sports industry: Saalfelden Leogang first tourism region with seal of quality

Saalfelden Leogang is now the first tourism region in Austria to call itself a "Sport Leading Company".

The certificate awarded by the Institute for Sports Economics of the Federal Ministry (SPEA) is the seal of quality for Austria's most innovative and future-orientated sports and leisure companies.

Saalfelden Leogang has always been recognised as a trendsetter in the sports and leisure sector. With new ideas and long-term strategies, the tourism region is constantly setting new standards - including significant added value and employment effects for the economic sector. The "Sport Leading Company (SLC)" certificate from SportsEconAustria, the Institute for Sports Economics of the Federal Ministry, now officially confirms this special achievement. "The Saalfelden Leogang tourism region fulfils all the key criteria for being recognised as a Sport Leading Company," explained SLC President Toni Pichler at the official award ceremony.

A glance at the tourism region's calendar of events alone shows that the region delivers what the seal of quality promises. From the bike events surrounding the Downhill World Cup in Bikepark Leogang, to the "White Style" slopestyle contest, the football camps organised by numerous top clubs and the Doctors' Football World Cup, which will be held in the region in 2017, Saalfelden Leogang has been one of the leading players in the Austrian sports sector for years. Marco Pointner, Managing Director of Saalfelden Leogang Touristik: "Saalfelden Leogang stands for sport. A premium quality standard applies both to our events and to the offer for our guests. An image that we can emphasise even more thanks to the certification."

The Austria-wide network of industry-leading companies also opens up the possibility of new, profitable partnerships in view of the numerous sporting events in the region, explained Kornel Grundner, Managing Director of Leoganger Bergbahnen: "Being part of this network of well-known companies is certainly a good thing for the entire region."

The criteria for awarding the seal of quality included economic factors as well as "soft facts" such as corporate values, strategy and management style. There are currently over 20 leading Austrian companies in the pool, such as SK Rapid Vienna, STRABAG and many more.
