Nadja Blumenkamp Elected as New Tourism Chairperson in Leogang

Christoph Schmuck Hands Over After 9 Years

The Leogang Tourism Association has a new chairperson: Nadja Blumenkamp from the Biohotel Rupertus has been elected as the new Tourism Chairperson. She takes over from Christoph Schmuck, hotelier at the Naturhotel Forsthofgut, who stepped down after 9 years in the role.

Christoph Schmuck, who had served as Tourism Chairperson since 2015, performed the role with great dedication. After nearly a decade at the helm of the Leogang Tourism Association, he decided to pass on the torch. During his tenure, Christoph Schmuck played a crucial role in establishing Leogang as a top destination for nature and adventure tourists, while also promoting sustainable tourism in the region. His leadership saw many significant achievements that have left a lasting impact on Leogang's tourism. One of the standout moments was hosting the UCI Mountain Bike World Championship in 2020. Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the organisers successfully delivered an international sporting event. Another major milestone during his time in office was the focused expansion and development of the MTB trail network, establishing Saalfelden Leogang as a leading mountain bike destination in the Alps. Additionally, Christoph Schmuck championed a targeted brand development strategy that helped to strengthen Saalfelden Leogang's position as a premier destination. These efforts, alongside increased promotion of the off-seasons, led to a record-breaking achievement of over 1 million overnight stays per year in Saalfelden Leogang. Notably, the seasonal balance of stays is impressive: 52% in the summer and 48% in the winter, positioning Saalfelden Leogang successfully as a year-round destination that appeals to both summer and winter guests alike.

A new era is now beginning: Nadja Blumenkamp, elected as the new Tourism Chairperson in Leogang, looks forward to the tasks and challenges ahead. "It is a great honour and responsibility to step into Christoph Schmuck's shoes. I am excited to further develop tourism in Leogang in collaboration with our partner businesses and to focus on new, forward-thinking concepts," said Nadja Blumenkamp. She emphasises the importance of continuing to promote and enhance sustainable and environmentally conscious tourism in the region. Nadja Blumenkamp has been managing the Biohotel Rupertus in Leogang since the age of 20. For her, being a hotelier is a calling, a passion, and a joy. As of 20th November 2024, Nadja Blumenkamp is now also Chairperson of the Leogang Tourism Association.

Nadja Blumenkamp's election as the new Tourism Chairperson underscores the commitment to continue the sustainable path that Saalfelden Leogang, a recognised Eco-label Destination, has already embarked upon. With her dedication to the Biohotel Rupertus, which prioritises ecological responsibility, Nadja Blumenkamp brings extensive experience in sustainable tourism to her new role.
