New attraction at the Nordic Park

The Nordic Park in Saalfelden Leogang has one more attraction: the Nordic puzzle rally at Lake Ritzensee opened in mid-January.

Children are introduced to cross-country skiing in a playful way at seven stations.

Since 2017, the Nordic Park in Saalfelden has been offering fans of Nordic sports a wide range of options - countless kilometres of cross-country ski trails, wonderfully laid out winter hiking trails, a popular Fun & Snow Park, as well as culinary highlights and events. Now Saalfelden Leogang Touristik and the municipality of Saalfelden are adding a Nordic attraction for the whole family to the cross-country skiing programme. In the Nordic puzzle rally, the youngest participants are asked to solve as many puzzles as possible about the region and Nordic sports at seven stations. For each correct answer, a letter is added to the puzzle card, the cards with the correct answer can then be exchanged for a goodie at the Saalfelden Leogang Tourist Office: ‘Last year, we were able to further expand our popular Nordic Park at Ritzensee with the Fun & Snow Park. This winter, the Nordic puzzle rally is another attraction that not only emphasises our Nordic expertise, but also expands our family offer,’ says a delighted Marco Pointner, Managing Director of Saalfelden Leogang Touristik.  The idea for the rally came from cross-country skiing and biathlon coach Mark Hauser (Saalfelden Nordic Secondary School), who also came up with the idea for Austria's first Fun & Snow Park in the Nordic Park.

The puzzle round at Lake Ritzensee is suitable for all cross-country skiing levels and for children from the age of six. All you need to take part is a valid cross-country ski trail ticket. Children up to the age of 14 can use the entire cross-country skiing network in Saalfelden Leogang free of charge with their parents. And with the Saalfelden Leogang Card, which you can get at the partner businesses at check-in, you can ski for free on the trails throughout the region.

All those who would like to get a taste of cross-country skiing for the first time should book a taster lesson with biathlon world championship medallist Andrea Grossegger as part of the weekly winter adventure programme - the perfect preparation to then start the new puzzle rally at Lake Ritzensee together with the whole family.
