The FREIRAUM cultural association and Leoganger Bergbahnen offer artists the opportunity to present their work in a unique setting every year in order to promote both established and new local culture. In the anniversary year 2024, Toni Niederwieser's paintings are exhibited on the art trail. The Fieberbrunn artist and photographer designed the hiking trail under the title "BERG.SPIEL".
Where does photography begin, where does it end?
A question that is difficult to answer when you look at Toni Niederwieser's photographs. Niederwieser captures the moment when light, mood, season and the chosen image section fit together and harmonise. Once a motif has been photographed, a new phase begins for the photographer. What does the subject tell outside of the first impression? This is where the experimentation in photography begins, be it filters, colour processing or working with brushes, acrylic, chalk or ink, which Toni Niederwieser carries out with precision and meticulousness. His vision mixes reality with impression, whereby chance is also given its stage. After the analogue treatment of the expression, a process begins. The artist goes into seclusion with the picture, letting his imagination run wild in order to ultimately open up a new perspective for the viewer. Playing with the mountain, with nature, with water - flowing or frozen, playing with colours, sharpness and blurring, is the credo of this exhibition. Step by step, along the way. In addition to the fascinating works of art, the hiking trail offers a breathtaking backdrop.
"The art trail is taking place for the tenth time this year. I am particularly pleased that we were able to win over the Fieberbrunn photographer and artist Toni Niederwieser for this anniversary. The connection between Leogang and Fieberbrunn through the Spielberg, described in the title as BERG.SPIEL, is at the centre of this exhibition. Impressive, artistically reworked photographs are on display," says Martina Riedlsperger from the Freiraum cultural association.
Below the Asitzbahn mountain station, the beautiful art trail begins via the "Stille Wasser am Asitz" to the Sinne Park at the Asitzbahn middle station. There are works of art every 30 to 40 metres, inviting you to take a short break and look around. The works of art are on display from 16/06/2024 to 20/10/2024.
