The Saalfelden Leogang Touristik GmbH Tourism Prize is awarded annually to institutions, individuals or associations that are particularly committed to tourism. This year's prize went to the Leogang building yard - the yard was honoured for its outstanding commitment and intensive work in maintaining and restoring paths. At the annual general meeting of the Leogang Tourism Association on 18 November 2019 at Hotel Leonhard, the tourism award was presented to the head of the building yard Hannes Scheiber and Wilfried Lederer, on behalf of all building yard employees.
Last winter in particular, many hiking trails were destroyed by the masses of snow. The restoration work on the hiking trails was in full swing in spring. The damage was quickly repaired thanks to an additional budget and an increase in the number of path wardens. The clean-up work would not have been possible in such a short space of time without the fantastic efforts of the Leogang building yard. Holidaymakers and guests were able to safely walk along the numerous hiking trails in the region again in summer. The building yard also took care of the hiking trail signposting and the maintenance of the ‘Einfach Wandern’ installations. ‘Simply hiking’ - a concept without a lot of frippery. Action-packed themed trails were deliberately avoided. Therefore, installations were developed to bring hikers back to the essentials, to simply walk and enjoy nature. 360-degree hiking benches and forest swings invite you to relax and the trail-sharing stations will delight young and old alike. In addition to the hiking trails, the building yard is also responsible for beautifying the centre of Leogang. This year, guests and locals alike have enjoyed the magnificent flower meadow that stretches through the entire village.
Hannes Scheiber, Leogang site manager, is visibly proud: ‘The entire team did an incredible job this spring - especially Wilfried. No matter how bad the damage was, they didn't let it get them down. It is a privilege to work in a team where you can simply rely on each individual and we are delighted at how much this work is appreciated. Of course, I would also like to take this opportunity to thank my predecessor and site manager Mr Perwein Franz.’
Wilfried Lederer thanks the municipality of Leogang and the tourism association for the good cooperation and is very pleased about the award: ‘I am delighted for our entire team about the award and the appreciation shown.’
