The long winter has kept mountain bikers impatiently waiting for the Alpine riding season to start. Thanks to sunny weather and high temperatures, the snow in Saalfelden Leogang has now melted from the trails and the bike season is fully under way. Hundreds of kilometers of mountain bike routes and bike paths as well as the Epic Bikepark Leogang are waiting to be explored. The first highlight of the season, the Out of Bounds Festival including the Mercedes-Benz UCI Mountain Bike World Cup, has already attracted a record number of more than 25,000 visitors at the beginning of June and acted as the perfect dress rehearsal for the UCI Downhill Mountain Bike World Championships 2020.

The Out of Bounds Festival isn’t alone in setting records, as more and more e-bikers and e-mountain bikers are making the pilgrimage to Saalfelden Leogang thanks to its infrastructure that includes 14 charging stations located around the region. In addition to setting out and exploring the region, mountain bikers can enjoy numerous pre-determined routes to maximise their riding time. Five tours from the highest sporting standard to the finest culinary delights stand out.

The E-Trail XXL Tour makes an impression as a challenging and technically demanding tour for experienced E-MTB riders. With a total distance of 66 kilometers / 41 miles and 3,000 meters / 9,954 ft. of climbing mainly on singletrails, the E-Trail XXL Tour is true celebration of mountain biking in breath-taking scenery.

For those who want to enjoy everything the region has to offer, the “Steinberg Runde” with its 600 meters / 1,990 ft. of climbing is the tour to embark upon. Circling the jaw-dropping “Leoganger Steinberg” along the Austrian valley, the 66 kilometers / 41 miles long tour passes idyllic towns, beautiful lakes and lush meadows. Thanks to the many charging stations located at neuralgic points, the approximately five-hour-long tour can be enjoyed without fear of empty batteries.

The Saalfelden Tour and Steinernes Meer-Tour may involve a bit more climbing, but riders are rewarded with stunning vistas over the Steinernes Meer plateau and the Leoganger Steinberge mountains. Both tours involve approximately 1,000 meters /3,317 ft. of climbing over the length of 30 kilometers / 19 miles and take riders about 4 hours to complete.

Last but not least, the E-Bike Culinary Tour lets riders enjoy the culinary hotspots of the region at a leisurely pace. Mostly flat and following bike paths, the 33 kilometer / 21 miles long tour only involves 330 vertical meters / 1,094 ft. of climbing and passes several local farms and producers (please make sure to check opening hours), where riders can enjoy the local cuisine to the fullest.
