From 11 am, the centre of the municipality of Saalfelden is transformed into an atmospheric festival site.
Customs, tradition and enjoyment are the focus of the opening of the 24th Harvest Festival on 31 August. Just like 20 years ago, when the opening also took place in Saalfelden, this event will be a festival for the whole family.
The programme ranges from musical entertainment on three stages, performances by traditional groups and a children's programme with a petting zoo to market stalls with delicacies and homemade products from the region. A craft market with demonstrations shows the old crafts in the traditional region of Saalfelden Leogang. In addition to chopping well troughs, building Pinzgau fences and forging horseshoes, you can also learn about and marvel at many other crafts. The festival area in the centre of Saalfelden is set up as a circuit. If you take a leisurely stroll from stage to stage, you will automatically pass all the stations.
Another highlight of the opening event of the 24th Harvest Festival is the parade on the theme of ‘The forest, the wood - our roots’, in which the local associations and participants will present themselves magnificently. From old tractors, iron wagons with horse-drawn carriages and wagons on the subject of fire-fighting in the old days, there will be lots of interesting things on offer.
As regionality and sustainability are important topics in the Saalfelden Leogang region, the Bauernherbst opening festival will also be held as a ‘green event’. Special attention is paid to waste avoidance and separation, the use of regional and seasonal products and climate-friendly travel for visitors. Culinary delicacies are therefore served exclusively on china and drinks are served in glasses. Those who also want to contribute to climate protection can travel to the festival by public transport or in car pools.
