The 5th Stoaberg March will take place from June 24 to 25, 2017. Those taking part in this year's 24-hour hike can look forward to extraordinary impressions, as the mystical midsummer bonfires will accompany hikers on their long march through the mountains for the first time.

When darkness falls, the peaks glow in magical light: those who take part in the 5th Stoaberg March on June 24/25 can look forward to extraordinary impressions, as the traditional solstice fires accompany the 24-hour hikers on their long march through the mountains for the first time. There are around 2000 meters of ascent and descent from Salzburger Land to the PillerseeTal in Tyrol. The start is at 9 a.m. on 24 June in Saalfelden am Steinernen Meer, the next morning the border crossers celebrate at the finish in the village center of Waidring. The maximum of 150 participants walk together from the start, and if their stamina or stamina wanes, mountain guides unpack their flugelhorns and motivate them with music. Regional food and refreshments are available in huts and inns along the way.

The Weißbachscharte (2261 m), the highest point of the hike, is reached in the afternoon. From here, the route continues via the Ingolstädter Haus with its wonderful view of the Steinernes Meer. Even before you reach the Kallbrunn Alm, the mountains are on fire. The descent is via the idyllic Hintertal valley and Lofer to Waidring. Participants in the 24-hour hike pay 59 euros, including food, finisher T-shirt and other extras. An alternative date in case of bad weather is July 1-2.
