Sunday, 26.06.2016 was the day again. The Wiechenthaler Hüttenlauf took place for the third time in Saalfelden.
51 ambitious professional and amateur runners battled for victory in pleasant temperatures on the 3.8 km course with an elevation gain of almost 865 meters. Along the route, the so-called "Seilbahnweg", numerous spectators cheered on the participants and gave them the strength they needed to reach the finish line. The overall winner of the last two years, Herzog Peter from Team Erdinger, crossed the finish line first again this year after 32:28.9 minutes.
Among the women, Schild Sibylle from Team Scott completed the challenging course the fastest (40:17.0 minutes), as she did last year. The youngest starter among the boys, Lorenz Klinglmayr (born in 2005), crossed the finish line after 46:07.4 minutes and thus won the children's class from 2001 onwards. The crowning glory of the event was the subsequent award ceremony with a breathtaking panorama and a raffle.
The organizers, Gunter Mayer and Stefan Klinglmayr from the SALEWA Mountainshop Saalfelden, were very satisfied and are already looking forward to the 4th edition of the Wiechenthaler Hüttenlauf in 2017.
