The cross-country season is open

Thanks to the great efforts of the municipalities and farms in Saalfelden Leogang as well as the tourist board, almost all the trails in the Saalfelden Leogang region were put into operation this week.

Winter sports enthusiasts can now do their rounds on all trails in Saalfelden as well as on the Griessen high-altitude trail in Leogang. In the next few weeks, the track is still being diligently tracked, so that soon all routes will be passable.

Whether beginner or professional – in Saalfelden Leogang there are tracks of all difficulty levels. For example, a trip to the Nordic Park at the Ritzensee in Saalfelden is absolutely worthwhile. This is where all those who are interested in Nordic sports get their money’s worth. In the Fun & Snow Park the children’s enthusiasm for cross-country skiing is aroused. Since this year there is a new exciting cross-country course with 22 stations. The obstacles are intended not only for the little ones, but also for adults and thus allow the first contacts with the Nordic discipline in a playful way. The Parcours is the first in Austria to follow this model. In addition, from January 2022 there will be a new highlight around the Ritzensee for families who love cross-country skiing. You can be excited!

Adults and children can book classical and skating-style courses. If you are already safely on the cross-country skis, you will find numerous trails in Saalfelden Leogang. From simple to demanding, such as the World Cup trail on the Ritzensee, where local professional athletes such as biathletes Simon Eder and Julian Eberhard train, there are a total of around 150 kilometres of tracked trails available to guests in winter. In addition to the World Cup trail, the 4.9 km long Kollingwald trail offers a medium level of difficulty for ambitious cross-country skiers. It starts at Nordic Park. If you still have strength in the evening and crave action, you can tackle the illuminated 1.8 km long trail around the Ritzensee until 8.30 pm and the night trail in Leogang under floodlights until 10 pm on cross-country skis.
