Down-to-earth, traditional and cosy: this is how Advent presents itself in Saalfelden Leogang. Guests and locals enjoy traditional specialities at the Christmas market and marvel at creative arts and crafts.
"Authentic culture with regional specialities still predominates here in the run-up to Christmas. In Saalfelden Leogang, we like to take a simple approach to Advent, with old customs and specialities," explains Marco Pointner, Managing Director of Saalfelden Leogang Touristik.
The very special highlights during Advent include the special exhibitions in the museums, the Christmas service at the Einsiedelei and the Bachlschneid day at the Hüttschmiede Leogang, where you can have the blacksmiths make a so-called "Bachlschneid" for your kitchen knives. Also steeped in history is the Miners' Advent in the historic show mine in Leogang, to which guests "arrive" on a romantic carriage ride. Storytellers, brass bands and singers frame the contemplative hours in the mine. Tickets for the Miners' Advent on 17 December 2017 are available from the tourist offices in Saalfelden and Leogang.
