Perchten, Kletzenbrot and handicrafts during the festive season
Advent is the time of year when traditions play a particularly important role. This is also the case in Saalfelden Leogang. Traditional food and old-fashioned crafts are on offer at the Christmas market and Krampus and Perchten parade through the streets during St Nicholas' Day. The contemplative Advent weeks in Saalfelden Leogang are summarised under the term "Stoaberg Advent".
Among the very special highlights during Advent are the exhibitions and events in the museums, the Christmas service at the Einsiedelei and the Bachlschneid day at the Hüttschmiede Leogang, where you can have the blacksmiths make a so-called "Bachlschneid" for your kitchen knives. Also steeped in history is the Miners' Advent in the historic show mine in Leogang, to which guests "arrive" on a romantic carriage ride. Storytellers, brass bands and singers frame the contemplative hours in the mine. Tickets for the Miners' Advent on 16 December 2018 are available from the tourist offices in Saalfelden and Leogang.
