The Tourism Prize of Saalfelden Leogang Tourismik GmbH is awarded annually to institutions, associations or individuals who have made a merit with special commitment and personal commitment in tourism. Such as the ?AMTC Fahrtechnik Zentrum Saalfelden, which not only makes a significant contribution to increasing road safety with its tailor-made vehicle training, but has also developed into an important economic factor in the region with its international events in the automotive industry and mobility issues. In its more than 30 years of existence, the centre has established itself as an ideal venue for vehicle and tyre manufacturers, companies and media partners, with enormous success especially among the major players such as Porsche Germany, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Mercedes-Benz Germany or Toyota Motorsport, who come to Saalfelden Leogang for daily events and incentives, car and tyre presentations or for special occasions such as the 55th anniversary of Mercedes AMG Austria. The Mercedes Formula 1 team, around motorsport boss Toto Wolff, has already used the 70,000 m2 area at the Brandlhof twice for its annual kick-off into the new season - always with invited guests, most recently with the CEOs of the team sponsors.
The ÖAMTC Driving Technology Centre in Saalfelden is constantly developing. In 2020, the newly built Experience Center expanded the area into one of the most modern facilities in Europe and now enables tire testing, presentations and standardized tests in the field of autonomous driving systems under realistic conditions and in higher speed ranges. “The center has recently been extensively expanded and annually brings numerous guests, teams and a buying, international audience to the region. As a result, it generates a high value added and added value for us. Our thanks go to center manager Manfred Pfeiffenberger and his team,” explains Marco Pointner, Managing Director of Saalfelden Leogang Tourismik about this year’s choice of the award. “We are very happy about the award and about being able to give something back to the region. For example, we have a Romanian businessman who has discovered Saalfelden Leogang for himself through his time with us and will book a ski holiday in February,” says Manfred Pfeiffenberger about the success story of the center: “In 2021, despite the coronavirus, we had around 10,900 participants at the center. The signs are good that we can also be as successful internationally in 2022/23 as before the pandemic. We are very pleased that we, for example, are able to welcome Continental Germany to our center and the Experience Center from mid-May to mid-June 2023 for an international tire presentation.”
