VOLXOMMER Saalfelden Leogang
The Kunsthaus Nexus, the Museum Schloss Ritzen in Saalfelden and the Circuszelt in Leogang form the backdrop for the VOLXOMMER Saalfelden Leogang theatre festival from 2-19 August. The theatre forms in the programme are as varied and diverse as the venues. For the first time, "Heimatabend ..." by VOLXtheaterwerkstatt Saalfelden, a comedy created entirely in the region, is on the programme at Kunsthaus Nexus. The fairground comedy "Betrogene Betrüger" by Peter Blaikner returns as an open-air performance in the backyard of Museum Schloss Ritzen (in the museum in case of bad weather). Then the circus tent in Leogang opens for the premiere of Michael Ende's "Juggler's Tale". For the little ones, Samira Kirschhofer will perform her charming production "Fräulein Pünktchen putzt im Circus" twice.
About the productions:
Since September 2017, people of all ages from the region have been working on regional themes in the VOLXtheaterwerkstatt Saalfelden. The resulting comedy "Heimatabend ..." will be performed for the first time as part of the festival. The Pinzgau railway takes you through the idyllic Pinzgau mountain landscape. In the carefully modernised "Chalet Innergebirg", a varied show awaits the p.t. audience: in the "Heimatabend", lively presented by Wolfgang Kandler, you will get honest insights into the wonderful country life then and now. Franz Innerhofer's hard bread of the 50s meets the reality between traditional costume and burka.
"In this production, we play with the rural idyll, which wasn't so idyllic anyway ...", explains Reinhold Tritscher from the Ecce Theatre, because "today's perception of the Pinzgau region is very romanticised, completely different from Innerhofer's novel, which nevertheless shows the harshness of the time very well. One of our actors in the 'Heimatabend' told us that in the past, in addition to rye, oats and wheat, corpses were also carted to the cemetery on the same horse-drawn cart. And today - after just one and a half generations - we experience the former mountain farms as modern, high-tech hotels where you are greeted by a reception robot."
Even though "Heimatabend ..." is a controversial but humorous examination of the development and excesses of tourism, Reinhold Tritscher emphasises: "We want to build bridges with art, not tear open rifts. I believe in the power of imagination, which is also invoked in the "Gauklermärchen"!"
Michael Ende's play "The Juggler's Tale" is a fairy tale within a fairy tale: Jojo and his friends' little circus is on its last legs. The only salvation is that the juggler troupe advertises for a chemical company. Plagued by existential fear, the jugglers are already determined to abandon Eli, who is disabled, when she asks Jojo to tell her another fairy tale ...
"Fräulein Pünktchen putzt im Circus" is an enchanting theatre play for children aged 3 and over. Miss Dot is actually employed at the circus to clean up. But she didn't expect such a mess! The costumes are lying on the floor, the juggler's balls are scattered around the circus ring, the Rola Bola hasn't been cleared away and - "Oh dear!" - "Maybe even the wild animals are still running around!" In the end, Miss Dot doesn't catch any lions, but she does catch Mr Director's fleas. But before she finally gets round to cleaning, she has to quickly try on one of the beautifully glittering costumes. And maybe try a little trick? "It can't be that difficult" - she thinks to herself ...
The colourful theatre series is complemented by the revival of the farce "Betrogene Betrüger" and the workshop series "Von Gauklern und Luftikussen" for children and young people aged 6 to 18.
