Volxommer Theatre Festival Saalfelden Leogang 2018

In August 2018, it's that time again - the VOLXOMMER theatre festival is taking place in Saalfelden Leogang for the second time.

The Kunsthaus Nexus, the Museum Schloss Ritzen in Saalfelden and the Circuszelt in Leogang form the backdrop for the summer theatre series by Theater ecce from 2-19 August. The theatre forms in the programme are as diverse and varied as the venues. For the first time, "Heimatabend..." by VOLXtheaterwerkstatt Saalfelden, a play created entirely in the region, is on the programme at Kunsthaus Nexus. The fairground comedy "Betrogene Betrüger" by Peter Blaikner returns as an open-air performance in the courtyard of Museum Schloss Ritzen (in the museum in case of bad weather). Then the circus tent in Leogang opens for the premiere of Michael Ende's "Gauklermärchen". For the little ones, Samira Kirschhofer performs her charming production "Fräulein Pünktchen putzt im Circus" twice. The workshop programme "Von Gauklern und Luftikussen" is also aimed at children and young people and concludes with a presentation.

1) VOLXOMMER Theatre Festival Saalfelden Leogang 2018

from 2-19 August 2018

"Evening at home..."

A journey through time with the Pinzgaubahn from Franz Innerhofer's "Schattseite" to the "Schönen Tagen" in the "Chalet Innergebirg"
Comedy by the VOLXtheatre workshop Saalfelden

Since September 2017, people of all ages from Saalfelden Leogang have been working on regional themes in the VOLXtheaterwerkstatt Saalfelden.
The resulting comedy will be performed as part of the festival.

The topics range from problems in agriculture to public transport in rural regions and a self-help group for anonymous suicides. Excesses in tourism based on a fully automated accommodation business, insights into an Oberpinzgau police station, the increasing number of Arabic-speaking tourists on the one hand, and refugees living in the region on the other are interwoven into the story in small episodes. In the end, the organic cattle that tries to escape its fate by taking a ride on the gondola but ends up in the self-service display case of the ski hut touches the audience's heart. A short dive to the bottom of the Kaprun reservoir brings astonishing things from the past to the surface...

The theatrical journey through time is based on passages from Franz Innerhofer, who was honoured with the title "Kafka of the farmers" for his criticism of the "idyll" of rural life.

"Deceived deceivers"

Comedy plays by Peter Blaikner

Five French farces by anonymous authors from the 15th century have been newly translated, rewritten and modernised without changing their original mood. They sparkle with humour and fun in everyday comic situations. They deal with hypocrites, gamblers, businessmen, shysters, corrupt shepherds and, of course, wives and husbands who seek their fortune with their neighbours...
Revival of the production that premiered successfully in 2017

"Historical farces and highly amusing events (combined with the finest schadenfreude!) can be experienced there in cheerful succession. The actors are in the best of moods and are very versatile. The costumes, made of plastic, do the rest. Delicious!"
Heinz Bayer, SN, 16 August 2017

Museum Schloss Ritzen Saalfelden

  • Production: Reinhold Tritscher

"The Juggler's Tale" by Michael Ende

Theatre play by Michael Ende with drama, live music and acrobatics for the whole family (from 6 years)

Jojo and his friends' little circus has come to an end. Excavators are already standing around the few colourful wagons they have left, ready to start building a chemical factory. As compensation, the company offers the jugglers the chance to tour the country as an advertising circus for its products. However, the condition is that Eli, a mentally handicapped girl who the circus people picked up in a ditch three years earlier after a chemical accident, is sent to a home, as she is hardly suitable for the planned advertising campaign. Plagued by existential fear, the jugglers are almost determined to abandon Eli when she asks Jojo the clown to tell her a fairy tale ...

"Miss Pünktchen cleans in the circus"

Theatre play for children aged 3 and up

Fräulein Pünktchen is supposed to clean the circus. But the colourful circus world with all its exciting objects and costumes constantly distracts her from her work. The juggler's clubs are lying on the floor, the tightrope walker's rope is still taut from her last performance, and ... Oh no! The wild beasts are running free! It's just as well that Miss Dot knows how to catch the fleas again. But before Miss Dot finally gets round to cleaning, she has to try out a few of the tempting objects. Will that go well?
