The hiking pass challenge
I've never had realistic goals in my life. So why starting now? My goal for 2020 is to accomplish the hiking pass challenge and get all the stamps which are availabe in the region Saalfelden Leogang in my hiking pass.
A good resolution
I cannot remember why I had the idea to accomplish the hiking pass challenge. However, once the idea was in my head, I was eager to get all the stamps I needed. One of my new year resolutions for 2020 is to be more active, so the hiking pass challenge was the perfect start for me. Of course, I know the majority of hiking trails in Saalfelden Leogang, but nevertheless there are some left, which I've never hiked before. For me, this adds to the appeal of completing the challenge. It will be my first time that I hike up the massif Steinernes Meer and up the highest peak of the massif Leoganger Steinberge.
The challenge
In sommer many guests come to us in the tourist office to get the popular hiking pins in bronze, silver and gold. To get them, you have to collect stamps at the different stations in your hiking pass. You find these stamps at the various mountain huts or at the crosses at the peaks of a mountain. With every stamp you get one to five points. When you achived 10 points you get the bronze hiking pin, with 20 points you get the silver one and when you achived 30 points you get a gold hiking pin. But what happens if you get all the stamps in your hiking pass? I will find that out for you! Of course it takes me longer than just a week of vacation, but that's no problem, because after all I live here. So instead of a week, I have got the whole summer to accomplish the hiking pass challenge. I try my best to take you with me at Facebook and Instagram and tell you all about my hikes here at my blog.
The hikes
Despite my new year resolution to be more active, I am going to cheat a little bit. I'm going to manage my hikes in such a way that I can get more than one stamp while hiking only one tour. Below you see my plan for my hikes, named after the places where I get the stamps:
- Sinnlehenalm
- Riedlalm
- Seealm
- Einsiedelei
- Steinalm
- Alte Schmiede - Großer Asitz - Durchenkopf - Biberg - Forsthofalm Saalfelden - Huggenberg
- Stöcklalm
- Örgenbauernalm
- Knappenstube Unterberghaus - Lindlalm - Brandstattalm
- Birnbachloch
- Lettlkaser
- Tödlingalm - Spielberghorn
- Passauer Hütte - Birnhorn
- Peter Wiechenthaler Hütte
- Riemannhaus
These are 16 hikes, where I can get 24 stamps. All together it would be 58 points, which is nearly two times the golden hiking pin. One question is left: Why is the hiking pass challenge unrealistic? When I think about it, I do not really think that it is unrealistic. When I go for a hike every week for four months, I got it. Hopefully I find a stamp and a stamp pad at every station. ;)
I am looking forward to the challenge and I am looking forward to sharing all my experiences with you! All the postings I make are going to have the hastag #hikingpasschallenge. Are you joining me and also go on some hikes from the hiking pass? Tag us on Instagram with @saalfeldenleogang and use the hastag #hikingpasschallenge. Good climbing to you!
